Having worked in the IT industry for over 15 years I have enjoyed many
challenging roles including IT team leader, project management, design, systems
rationalisation and various support roles. I have vast experience of Unix
systems administration and Internet technologies. I have attained many skills
technically, in written and oral communications and in business practices.
I have enjoyed contract work since 1996 because of its varied and
challenging nature. I believe that being asked to return to clients demonstrates
my ability to create a great working relationship, learn new systems and perform
well in varied roles.

EDS
(Ahold Netherlands) Systems
Administrator / Project Admin January 2007 – November 2007
Migrating the customers DMZ and Exposed zone
systems (43 servers) from the Ahold head office in Amsterdam to EDS datacenters
in Frankfurt. The new hardware was Sun T2000s using Solaris 10 and IBM p520s
with AIX 5.3. To maximize the hardware usage virtual servers were created in
containers using Solaris and zones and AIX LPARs.
The project involved designing the solutions,
specifying hardware, planning disk requirements and ensuring the applications
would port to the new platforms as well as hardware configuration, application
installation and data migration, through to go-live.
On the new Sun T2000Õs I helped to build, install
and configure the Solaris 10 operating system and then migrate the applications
over to the new servers. This included configuring and partitioning the
allocated EMC SAN storage, creating 3-5 virtual environments on each T200 with
zoneadm and manually editing the zone xml files to configure the multiple
network interfaces, then copying or installing the applications onto their new
zones.
